Today I was looking for a dress for the Sex and the City Movie premiere, so I popped into Intermix on 5th Ave. I immediately fell in love with this stunner:
Elizabeth and James Sequin Net Dress, $495 at Intermix
I looked at the tag, and it was by Elizabeth and James, Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen’s line. I had been meaning to look up their lookbooks because I was curious to see where they went with the more “upscale” line.
I tried it on and loved it. The sides drape down around to the back, so it has the appearance that it is just hanging off of you. The black mesh that the sequins are sewn onto allows the dress to flow, so it doesn’t have that stiff feeling/look that a lot of allover sequin dresses (ahem Tory Burch Winter 07) have.
Check out different angles here at Intermix.com.
Well, I bought it. Yay! I love it!! I had a nice chat with the girl working at Intermix about how it looks really cute as a tunic too, with jeans or leggings or whatev. Nice, since the REAL cost of any wardrobe piece = price divided by # of wears. Therefore, it was cheap! Plus, it has a vintage-y look to it, so I think it could last a few years.
Still I am telling myself that I am limiting my retail expenditures for the rest of the month, being that I am now paying NYC rent… eek!
